As a 4th year student, we are placed on away sites which are called OHIO Projects. OHIO project stands for Oral Health Improvement through Outreach. It's a program we have to go out to various sites in Ohio to be able to serve the public. The 40 full days are completed at a variety of sites. So, we are in one site for four days a week Monday through Thursday.

 

Through this experience, I have had the privilege to serve in various sites which mainly serve the underserved population. A lot of these individuals have significant deterioration in oral health leading to an extraction-focused approach. I have learned to focus on extractions both simple and surgical and have enjoyed surgical dentistry.
